Flagship Facility | Columbus Technical College

Adjacent to the existing Columbus Technical College campus, Columbus, Ga., 28 acres of property is envisioned to become the expansion and future of the college’s growing program. The first building commissioned and under construction is the Dr. Robert L. Wright Jr. Health Sciences Center.

Expected to open by the end of 2010, this 85,000-square-foot health and science building will house administrative offices, multidisciplinary healthcare classrooms, high-tech simulation rooms (radiology suite, OR suite, trauma rooms), a functioning and teaching dental lab, and a large auditorium space.

The first phase of site improvements also is under construction. A grand plaza green and campus promenade walk will be this singular building’s front yard as it awaits its future neighboring classroom buildings. The program for this outdoor space will develop as the college becomes acquainted with its new campus. However, the site design was made flexible to accommodate future pedestrian links, parking and a stage for outdoor graduations.

Architect for the project is Stanley Beaman & Sears (Atlanta).
