Dec 1, 2010 12:00 PM

The U.S. Department of Education has unveiled its plan for transforming American education through technology.

The National Education Technology Plan (NETP), "Transforming American Education: Learning Powered by Technology," spells out key goals in five areas: learning, assessment, teaching, infrastructure and productivity.

"Our nation’s schools have yet to unleash technology’s full potential to transform learning," says U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan. "We’re at an important transition point. We need to leverage technology’s promise to improve learning."
