Stephen is well known throughout the education, healthcare, professional-cleaning, and building-management industries as the “father of Green Cleaning.” He has played a pivotal role in setting industry standards, promoting environmentally preferable products, and advocating for socially responsible practices. He is a 28-year veteran of the professional cleaning industry. He is Executive Director of the Green Cleaning Network and President of The Ashkin Group, a consulting firm specializing in greening the cleaning industry—both based in Bloomington, IN. He is the lead author of the Quick & Easy Guide to Green Cleaning in Schools published by the Healthy Schools Campaign and contributing author to Safe and Healthy School Environments published by Oxford Press.
