As Education Sector Associate, Emily supports the ongoing development of the U.S. Green Building Council’s National Green Schools Campaign. Through partnerships with national education organizations; schools; and local, state and federal governments; Emily assists in educating communities across the country about the benefits of green facilities for students, teachers, and communities. She also serves as the primary point of contact for the growing national network of USGBC chapters’ Green Schools Advocacy Chairs, supporting their work and connecting them to national initiatives. Prior to joining USGBC, Emily worked in and on behalf of Washington D.C.’s public charter schools. While working for a charter school advocacy organization, she assisted in the writing and reviewing of startup school applications; coordinating the business, operations and facilities planning of public and independent public schools; and working closely with DC’s government and nonprofit organizations.
