Bus rollover injures students from Kansas City, Mo., private school

UPDATE: A school bus taking sixth-grade students to an overnight camp in Kansas overturned on a highway ramp, and 22 students and the bus driver were taken to hospitals for treatment. The Kansas City Star says the injuries were described as minor to moderate. The bus was carrying 36 students from The Pembroke Hill School in Kansas City, Mo. The students were going to an overnight camp in Linwood, Kan., and the accident occurred near Bonner Springs, Kan. Police say the bus slid off a roadway, tipped to the right and slammed onto its side.

Earlier: A school bus carrying 36 sixth-grade girls rolled over on a hill near Bonner Springs, Kan. The Kansas City Star reports that 11 students were taken to hospitals for treatment, but the injuries were described as non-critical — mostly cuts and bruises but no broken bones. The driver also was injured. The students are from The Pembroke Hill School, a private school in Kansas City, Mo. The students were headed to a camp in Linwood, Kan., for an overnight bonding experience to launch the school year.
