California wildfire forces evacuation of university


A 2,000-acre wildfire along in Camarillo, Calif., has forced the California State University, Channel Islands, to cancel all campus classes and activities. The school's web site reports that heavy smoke from the fire is drifting onto campus. The Los Angeles Times reports that Newbury Park High School in the Conejo Valley Unified district has evacuated its campus because of poor air quality stemminf from the fire. The Conejo Valley district also is asking that students at two elementary schools be picked up by their parents.
