Connecticut court overrules judge who ousted Vallas as Bridgeport superintendent

Nov. 15, 2013
Ruling comes after Vallas decides to leave job and run for Illinois lieutenant governor

The Connecticut Supreme Court has ruled that a lower court overstepped its bounds when it found Paul Vallas unqualified to be school superintendent in Bridgeport. The Connecticut Post reports that the decision may be moot because Vallas says he plans to return to Illinois to run for lieutenant governor. The high court found that the lower court, which ruled Vallas ineligible, should not have second guessed a decision that was up to the state Board of Education and Commissioner Stefan Pryor.
