The University of Chicago has unveiled designs by architect Jeanne Gang for a three-tower residence hall on the north end of campus. DNAinfo Chicago says three white concrete towers, the largest rising to 165 feet tall, would replace Pierce Hall and the adjoining sports field. The tallest of the three towers would be 15 stories high; the two other towers would have 11 and five stories. Retail spaces would be part of the complex. The project will cost about $148 million, and the university is hoping to open the complex to students in fall 2016.
