Facilities study identifies $1 billion in needs in Garland (Texas) district

Jan. 7, 2014
58,000-student district expected to pursue a bond election in 2014.

A consultant’s report says facilities in the Garland (Texas) Independent School District need a billion dollars of refurbishing. The Dallas Morning News says the report looked at code compliance, handicap access, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, roof and technology issues at each of the district’s 84 facilities. Security and mechanical needs were presented as the most glaring needs. Board members in the 58,000-student district will used the report to determine what should be included in a bond election expected some time in 2014.
