Federal grant comment period a chance to champion health in schools, group says

The U.S. Department of Education is accepting feedback on proposed requirements for its School Improvement Grant program (SIG), which awards grants to revenue-challenged districts that demonstrate a commitment to improving student achievement in low-performing schools.

The U.S. Department of Education is accepting feedback on proposed requirements for its School Improvement Grant program (SIG), which awards grants to revenue-challenged districts that demonstrate a commitment to improving student achievement in low-performing schools. The Healthy Schools Campaign says the request for input is an opportunity to stress the important role that student health and wellness play in academically successful schools. The deadline to submit comments is Wednesday, Oct. 8.
