Former college administrator gets probation for improperly accepting gifts

A former administrator at Southwestern College in Chula Vista, Calif., has received three years’ probation for accepting meals and gifts from construction contractors angling for work. UT San Diego says John Wilson, who worked at the college for 30 years and was senior director of business operations, pleaded guilty last month to a felony charge of being an accessory to a crime. He’s one of 15 education officials and contractors in the San Diego area who were indicted a year ago in a probe of gift-giving and possible bribery by construction executives.
