Housing complex at Minnesota State University will be torn down


After serving as a landmark for nearly 50 years on the Mankato campus of Minnesota State University, the fate of the decommissioned Gage residence hall complex has been sealed. The St. Paul Pioneer Press says the twin 12-story towers, which housed some 57,000 students over the years, will be razed in June. With renovation costs pegged at more than $30 million, the university decided to build new residence halls demolish Gage, which was built in 1964-65. Following the demolition, the site is slated for redevelopment as parking
