Improvements seen in Broward County school bus service

District says it's fielding fewer complaints, using less overtime.

The school transportation department in the Broward County (Fla.) district is on the road to improvement after being criticized for poor service and excessive overtime payments. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel says the number of parent complaints has dropped steeply compared with last year, when students were left stranded for hours by buses that were late or never arrived. In addition, overtime has been slashed — $1.2 million from July to October, compared with $2.5 million in the same time period last year.
