$20 million facility replaces school destroyed in Hurricane Katrina

The Moss Point (Miss.) School District is ready to open the 122,514-square-foot, $20 million Magnolia Middle School next month. The Mississippi Press says the opening will enable the district to close two other schools--East Park Lower Elementary School and Ed Mayo Junior High, which has been the temporary home of Magnolia students. Magnolia Middle will house grades 6 to 8 and replaces Magnolia Junior High, which was destroyed after Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast in 2005.
