Online technical high school planned for Broward County (Fla.) district

Dec. 11, 2013
School would open next year and offer both online and face-to-face classes.

The Broward County (Fla.) school district has proposed facility and program changes to combat declining enrollment and drops in student performance. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel says the district wants to create its first online technical high school, expand three elementary schools to house preK-8 grades, and overhaul six failing elementaries. The online technical high school would open next year, and students would be able to take both online and face-to-face classes. Sheridan Online Technical High School will be housed at Sunset School in Fort Lauderdale, which closed last year. The district's facilities department also would be housed there to provide real-world experience to students interested in those areas.
