Schools slated to close in Baltimore make their pitch to stay open

Nov. 22, 2013
7 schools would be closed under plan put forth by district administration.

The first public hearing before the Baltimore City school board about the recommendations to close some schools run by external operators spurred heated exchanges between operators and school officials. The Baltimore Sun says the comments left board members questioning the consistency of the district's decisions about which schools should be given second chances. Interim district CEO Tisha Edwards has proposed closing seven traditional and externally operated schools.
