Nearly 60 students from the troubled Riverview Gardens (Mo.) School District went through the first-day-of-school routine of getting schedules and finding home rooms, but this year, they're attending Oakville High School in the Mehlville district. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that some had been up since 4:30 a.m. to catch buses to their new school. The transfer students at Oakville are among about 250 from Riverview Gardens who now go to various Mehlville schools, more than 20 miles away. A recent state Supreme Court ruling cleared the way for students in unaccredited districts such as Riverview Gardens to enroll in better districts.
