City commissioners in Lauderdale Lakes, Fla., have moved forward with rezoning the former Eagle Charter Academy site, scuttling the planned opening of the new Ivy Academies charter school there next week. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that commissioners say they have nothing against the backers of the new school, but noted that the property owner had pledged 10 years ago to make up revenue lost to the city when the previous school was allowed to open at the site. city.
