Money would pay for 3 new schools and renovations at existing campuses

From The Midland Reporter-Telegram: A $163.1 million bond initiative to improve elementary schools in the Midland (Texas) district will go before voters Nov. 6. The call for the bond election comes after months of discussion about the district’s enrollment growth, which is increasing by about 700 students a year. The bond proposal includes money to build three new schools to accommodate growth and to renovate each of the district 24 elementary campuses.

A facility study by the architecture firm Parkhill, Smith & Cooper determined the figure. The firm recommends adding 167 elementary classrooms, the majority of which would be built at the three new campuses.
