18 Illinois districts to receive state funds for construction projects

“Illinois Jobs Now!” program allocates $270 million for school facility upgrades

News release: Eighteen Illinois school districts will receive a total of more than $270 million from Illinois Jobs Now! to construct new buildings or expand existing ones. This capital funding will provide classroom space and create about 3,700 construction jobs. Chicago Public Schools will receive more than $54 million. The 18 districts were approved for the state funding after their projects were certified by the Illinois State Board of Education and the Illinois Capital Development Board.
