Charlotte and Hinesburg will upgrade aging school facilities

From The Burlington Free Press: Voters in Charlotte, Vt., and Hinesburg, Vt., have approved bond proposals for school renovation projects. Hinesburg voters approved a $2.5 million renovation bond, and in Charlotte, a $2.8 million proposal was approved. The Hinesburg district plans to renovate the Hinesburg Community School wing built in 1969, and to improve the 1952 addition. The Charlotte Central School's oldest portion, a three-story building built in 1949, is the target of the proposed construction work, which will remedy masonry cracks, aging mechanical systems, roof leaks and deteriorated wood.

School District will ask voters Nov. 3 to approve a $2.5 million bond for renovation of the Hinesburg Community School wing built in 1969 and for improvements to the 1952 addition. Under the federal stimulus bill, Vermont's authorization for 2009 for Qualified School Construction Bonds is $24,845,000. In order to qualify for the next round of these bond allocations, Nov. 13, voter approval for the construction must be secured before that date
