District anticipates needing fewer teachers in 2012-13

From The Detroit News: At least 4,100 Detroit Public Schools teachers have received layoff notices and have been told they can reapply for their jobs next month. The notices say the district remains in state receivership and is reducing its work force. District emergency manager Roy Roberts has said fewer teachers will be needed next school year because 15 low-performing buildings will move this fall into the Educational Achievement Authority, and EAA officials will hire teachers for their schools.
