Chicago Public Schools Employees to Receive Salary Boosts

Eight thousand employees will receive a 17 percent salary boost over the next five years as a result of agreements between Chicago Public Schools and six labor unions.

The agreements allow for a 3 percent raise in the first three years, 3.25 percent in the fourth and 3.5 percent in the fifth for custodians, security guards, special-education classroom assistants, engineers and lunchroom personnel.

The agreements, which also include health-care provisions, are subject to approval by union membership and the Chicago Board of Education.
