From The Baltimore Sun: Andrés Alonso has signed a contract extension to continue leading the Baltimore city school system for another four years. Alonso, who came to the city in 2007, signed a $260,000-a-year contract that includes a monthly $750 car stipend and undetermined performance bonuses. Neil Duke, chair of the city school board, says the school board feels retaining Alonso symbolizes a stabilization for the district. The schools chief is the longest-serving superintendent since 1994, and if he completes his contract, he would be the longest-serving since 1946.
