High school in Adelanto, Calif., won't be ready in August

From The Victorville Daily Press: The August opening of the first high school campus in Adelanto, Calif., has been delayed by nearly five months, and Victor Valley Union High School District officials must come up with a contingency plan to house the 1,100 students enrolled in the new school. The $102 million Adelanto High School campus, initially set to open for students Aug. 20, won’t be fully ready until January. Between 1,000 and 1,100 prospective 9th- and 10th-graders have already enrolled in Adelanto High, which is expected to relieve crowding at Silverado High. Students will begin classes on time, but they’ll be temporarily stationed at the Goodwill Education Center, a school that primarily serves at-risk students.
