Paramus administrator departs after governor’s decree leads to 25 percent salary cut

From The Newark Star-Ledger: Imagine that your boss gave you a rave review, and then cut 25 percent from your salary, and no one else’s. Many of us would follow the path of Jim Montesano, the superintendent of schools in Paramus, N.J. He quit and will soon take another job doing the same thing just over the border in Nyack, N.Y., with a small raise.
Paramus is among the first handful of school districts to lose an effective superintendent because of the new cap on their salaries imposed by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. Others are expected to follow. Executive search firms are now turning their gaze to the state.
