Bond proposal defeated in Ankeny, Iowa

Sep 10, 2009 1:48 PM

From The Des Moines Register: Ankeny (Iowa) school district voters have rejected a proposal to issue bonds to build an elementary school and make improvements to East Elementary School. The defeat of the proposed $16.5 million bond issue means the new elementary school probably will have to be paid for with state sales tax revenue; such a move is likely to delay construction of a second new high school. The first new high school is slated to open in August 2011. The second new high school was expected to open in August 2013.

JUNE 2009...from The Des Moines Register: The Ankeny (Iowa) school district will hold a bond referendum Sept. 8 asking residents to approve funding for a ninth elementary school. In addition to building and furnishing the school, the money from the bond issue also would be used to build and furnish additions, and to remodel existing school buildings.
