Anne Arundel, Md., school leaders say county budget cuts are slowing construction projects

Among two dozen schools in Anne Arundel County, Md., need major expansions or updating, and district officials are accusing county leaders of stalling the projects indefinitely by slashing funding and hurting the district's ability to compete for state school construction money. Last week, school district officials warned that the county's spending plan will force schools to scrimp on utility costs, charge new fees for extracurricular clubs and sports, and increase the prices of tickets to sporting events.
