Arizona cuts funding for textbooks, supplies

From The Arizona Republic: Teachers in Arizona are having to deal with shrinking classroom supplies. The state legislature has cut $144 million from school districts in what's known as soft capital--books, technology and classroom supplies. But now, with budget shortfalls straining school resources - and some local schools cutting stipends for teachers' supplies - Maricopa County educators said they are spending even more of their own money for extras, and the basics, for their classrooms.
