Grant will help create 10 charter schools in Arkansas

The Knowledge is Power Program of charter schools has received a $2.6 million grant to open 10 more schools in fourArkansas towns by 2019. The grant is from Colorado-based Charter School Growth Fund. The program, known as KIPP, already operates a middle school and high school in Helena-West Helena, and the program has received state approval to open an elementary school in the city. Other cities identified for possible KIPP schools are Blytheville, Lake Village, Forrest City, Pine Bluff and West Memphis. Only three of those are expected to get schools.
