The Arkansas City school board has rescinded a previous board resolution that called for a bond election Nov. 6 on a $35.8 million school facilities improvement project. Officials say that a citizens committee needs more time to inform the public about which projects would be covered by bond funds. Board member Daren Reese says at a bond election will be held eventually, but at a later date than originally planned.

EARLIER: The Arkansas City (Kan.) school board is planning a $36 million facilities upgrade. The planned projects: renovating five elementary schools, replacing one elementary school, renovating the middle school and expanding the high school. A proposed new sports complex would have 3,500 seats for the home crowd and 1,000 for visitors. The architect is Schaefer Johnson Cox Frey Architecture. (Arkansas City Traveler).
