$100 million bond proposal approved in Ascension Parish (La.) district

From The Baton Rouge Advocate: Ascension Parish (La.) voters have approved a $100 million bond issue. Revenue from the bonds will pay for a school renovation campaign that addresses inequities in infrastructure at some of the parish’s oldest schools.

JUNE 2009...from The Baton Rouge Advocate: The Ascension Parish (La.) School Board has scheduled a $100 million bond election on Oct. 17. The funds would enable the district to renovate, and, in some cases, rebuild the district’s oldest school buildings. Projects include construction of a new G.W. Carver Primary school in Gonzales; replacing nearly every building on the site of Prairieville Middle School; major renovations at Gonzales Primary. The district also wants to eliminate temporary buildings; providing major electrical upgrades to older schools; and install security cameras on all campuses.
