Aspen music school plans campus overhaul

The Aspen (Colo.) Festival and Music School is awaiting approval from Pitkin County commissioners for its plan to redevelop its 23-acre campus. The $70 million project calls for tearing down all but three of the existing buildings on the campus and building three new music rehearsal halls, a 16,000-square-foot administration and cafeteria building, practice rooms, parking lots and a playing field. In all, the campus, which also houses Aspen Country Day School, will grow from 50,000 square feet to 106,000 square feet. The architect is Harry Teague.
