Audit finds fault with construction in Louisiana's Recovery School District

June 19, 2012
School system should be overseeing projects more diligently

Audit summary: An audit of the Recovery School District in Louisiana says that the system needs to do a better job overseeing its construction projects. The Louisiana Legislative Auditor's office says some reports from architects “do not sufficiently inform (the district) of the progress and quality of the work.” The audit also found that the district approved change orders that cost too much and that construction had begun on some projects before the proper permits were obtained.
