Austin (Texas) district may decide to build its own performing arts center

Committee says constructing a district facility would be better than partnering with local group.

Austin (Texas) school district officials appear to be cooling to the idea of teaming with the Long Center for the Performing Arts to build a center for the district. A district advisory committee has concluded that the district's needs would be best met by building its own 1,200-seat, stand-alone performing arts center similar to facilities built by the Hays and Round Rock school districts.
