Baltimore city district gives OK to 2 new charter schools

The Baltimore city school board has approved applications to open two charter schools—the Creative City Public Charter School, an arts integration elementary school, and the Baltimore Collegiate School for Boys, a college preparatory program that starts in fourth grade. The two schools were among four applications considered by the district in the last month. The Creative City Public Charter School is scheduled to begin operating in fall 2013 for students in kindergarten through second grade. The school will eventually expand to fifth grade. The Baltimore Collegiate School for Boys is set to open in fall 2014 and will serve students in grades four through 12.
