$50 million proposal called for overhaul of middle school campus

From The Times Herald-Record: Voters in the New Paltz (N.Y.) School District have rejected a $50 million bond proposal that would have paid for demolition and renovation to the middle school. Opponents argued that the board's financial projections were misleading, that its reliance on $20 million in state building funds was dicey and that the project did nothing to improve the plight of the district's other three schools. The school board asserted that the time was ripe for the project, that an economic downtown was as much an opportunity as a crisis.
