Bid competition results in savings for Kentucky district

A bad economy resulted in a lot of bidders seeking to constructLongbranch Elementary School in Boone County, Ky. The total project cost, which includes various fees (such as for architects) is $15,869,531. Superintendent Randy Poe had said before the bids were opened that his goal was for the winning bid to be under $18 million. Longbranch, which will be the district’s 22nd school, will be one story, 74,000 square feet and have a capacity of 750 students. It will feature 28 classrooms, geothermal heating, photocell lighting and two outdoor play areas. To read The Cincinnati Enquirer article, click here.
