Report says significant reforms are needed

From The Boston Globe: Facing a scathing critique of the food services department in the Boston school system, Superintendent Carol R. Johnson and other top school officials are acknowledging significant problems with inventory and menus, but defend the quality of the meals and the strides made by the food service in recent years. An internal report says district leaders learned as early as 2004 that their food service system lacked adequate inventory controls. School officials admitted during a City Council hearing this week that students had recently been served eggs and ground beef that had been frozen as long as two years.
