Group wants to split Boulder, Colo., district

Five years after three schools in Boulder, Colo., were closed, simmering resentment is sparking a movement to split the 28,000-student Boulder Valley School District into two. A group advocating the split, Citizens Advocating Public Education, argues that citizens would have twice the chance of being heard if the district were divided. One district would include the city of Boulder and the mountains to the west. The other would cover the communities of Louisville, Lafayette, Broomfield, Superior and the unincorporated areas in between.
