Illinois district wants building on high school campus torn down

From The Elgin Courier News: The Community Unit School District 300 Board has voted to spend about $993,000 to demolish the old deLacey building on the Dundee-Crown High School campus in Carpentersville, Ill. The cost estimate includes about $560,000 to be spent on upgrades at the site once the old building is torn down. These upgrades could include lighting for the parking lot, which is used by Dundee-Crown students; additional parking spaces; extended sidewalks; storage for athletic equipment; two practice fields; and a chain-link security fence. The building houses water lines and electrical wiring for Dundee-Crown and serves as a storage space, but administrators want to tear the building down because of safety concerns.
