Baltimore school will restore former headmaster residence

Calvert School, a private K-8 institution in Baltimore, is planning to restore and expand a former headmaster's residence for academic use. The residence, now vacant, will be modified to contain faculty offices, seminar rooms and classrooms, most likely for students in grades 5 to 8. A two-story addition would contain up to 3,000 square feet and rise on the northeast corner of the residence. The school had talked about tearing down the 1928 structure, but reconsidered after preservationists protested. The architect is SMG Architects.
