Reinstatement will enable Camden, N.J., official to qualify for pension

Camden, N.J., schools security chief James Thornton, who was fired last month, has been reinstated for six months by the school board so that he will be able to draw a state pension. Without public comment, the board rescinded its decision last month terminating Thornton's $80,135 annual contract. With the reinstatement, Thornton can accrue the nine months needed to become vested in the state pension system.
