From The Detroit Free Press: Supporters of the old Cass Tech High School in Detroit were told this weekend that a developer has come forward to buy the building from the school district and redevelop it to house lofts, stores and other tenants. But district officials say they don't think the offer will pan out. The school district wants to demolish the old school to provide a safe passage for students who are attending classes at the newer Cass Tech next door.
NOVEMBER 2010....from The Detroit News: Preliminary razing of the old Cass Technical High School in Detroit, which closed in 2005, will begin Nov 1. Extensive demolition of the former school, which is adjacent to the facility that replaced it, will begin in June 2011, after school is out for summer vacation.
