Central Texas districts postpone construction, bond elections

Schools react to ailing economy
FromThe Austin American-Statesman: With home construction in Central Texas last year at its lowest level in more than a decade, most districts' enrollment growth is slowing. Many districts are postponing construction of schools and bond elections and are scaling back teacher hiring. Pflugerville Assistant Superintendent Randy Reese says the district will delay building two elementary schools and a middle school because of slowing enrollment growth.
