Charlotte-Mecklenburg (N.C.) district works to establish guidelines for which schools it will close

From The Charlotte Observer: As he tries to decide which schools will be closed in 2011-12, Charlotte-Mecklenburg (N.C.) Superintendent Peter Gorman says he won't take "the easy way" by merging underfilled and underperforming schools. Creating one bigger school with lots of students below grade level would hurt their chances at success, he says. Gorman expects to close at least 10 schools to save money in 2011-12.
