From The Charlotte Observer: Charlotte Mecklenburg (N.C.) School Superintendent Peter Gorman won't fill his chief-of-staff job, cutting almost $145,000 a year from the payroll for his top administrators with his latest staff shuffle. As the budget has tightened, Gorman has used high-level resignations to reassign duties and scale back costs. Gorman, who took Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools' top job in 2006, has come under fire for laying off hundreds of teachers and other rank-and-file employees while leaving top administration unscathed.
