Charter enrollment climbs in Mecklenburg County, N.C.

Projections show a 12% rise for 2012-13

From The Charlotte Observer: Charter schools are expected to account for one-third of all public school enrollment growth in Mecklenburg County, N.C., next year, and the charter boom could surge in 2013. Projections show Charlotte-Mecklenburg district gaining about 2,000 students next year, an increase of about 1.4 percent. About 1,000 more Mecklenburg students will attend charters, a 12 percent jump.
