Charter group seeks to expand Houston presence

YES Prep has 5 campuses, and wants to open an additional 8 schools in the next 5 years

YES Prep Public Schools, a Houston charter operator is planning a $34 million expansion of its city schools that would increase enrollment fourfold by 2020. The group expects to open eight new secondary schools in the next five years, including two this summer. Campuses will open with sixth-graders and expand each year until they reach 12th grade. By 2020, enrollment in YES charters should reach 10,000. The group now has five campuses with about 2,600 students.
