Charter school in Nashville will get upgrade

City assumes control of facility and provides $10 million for improvements

From The Nashville Tennesseean: Highland Heights, the decaying, partially vacant school building that has housed KIPP Academy in Nashville, Tenn., since 2005, is budgeted to get a $10 million upgrade. Nashville Mayor Karl Dean asked the school district to turn the building over to the city so it could pay for upgrades. But some supporters of traditional public schools argue that other aging buildings should be renovated first.
